HOW TO APPLY
MDP offers 2-semester engineering design project experiences, where first-year undergraduate through professional masters students earn course credit and gain real world experience. Projects start on the first day of classes in January, and run during both winter and fall 2026. Students must be on campus and enrolled for credit both semesters in 2026 to be eligible to apply. Most MDP projects do not include work in the summer. Check the Logistics tab of each project for more information.
The 2026 MDP application is now closed. However, the MDP waitlist application is now live, and linked in the Apply box below. Please note: not all projects are available on the waitlist. The application will require one resume, and an OPTIONAL Experience and Interest form for each project applied to. There will be no video interviews for the waitlist. Please contact our office at engin-mdp@umich.edu with any questions!
